Which mountain ranges surround the valley?
The Madison Valley lies between the Gravelly, Tobacco Root, and Madison mountain ranges.

What elevation do deer turn into elk?
Deer become elk at exactly 5001 feet above sea level. . . Actually deer never turn into elk, they are completely different species! Both deer and elk inhabit the valley.

How many people are in the Valley?
The population of Ennis, the population center of the valley, is around 2000 people. These people are year round residents, but in the summer the population may be significantly larger due to the summer time inhabitants.

How many ski resorts are within driving distance?
Well that all depends on how far you want to drive! Major ski areas within a few hours drive include Big Sky, Moonlight Basin, Bridger Bowl, Grand Targhee, Jackson Hole, and Snow King. Smaller Montana ski areas within driving distance include Lost Trail, Discovery, and Maverick Mountain.

How big is the Valley?
The Madison Valley encompasses around 925,000 acres. The valley stretches from Quake Lake about 55 miles south to the Norris hill and is approximately 25 miles wide. Of the 925,000 acres in the valley 450,000 acres are privately owned acres.
